Our Eye Doctors

Eye care professionals understand how the human eye really works, as well as diseases and conditions that affect your vision – many of which do not have obvious symptoms. Eye doctors know how age and risk factors affect vision over time for young and old, and they understand the benefits and features of corrective lenses including eyeglasses and contacts.

Our Calgary, AB optometrists take the time to explain the results of your eye exam, describe your options and listen to your eye care needs. Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, we encourage you to ask questions and share your health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems.

Dr. Theresa Taylor

Dr. Theresa Taylor is co-owner and co-founder of Eye Q Optometry Inc.  She grew up in Miramichi, NB where she returned to work for almost 3 years after completing a Bachelor of Science at UNB Fredericton, and a Doctor of Optometry in Waterloo, ON.

She made a big move to Calgary in 2010 and worked at various types of clinics to sharpen her skills and found she enjoyed the medical side of optometry the most.  She is excited to learn of new changes to the AB government increasing the scope of practice to qualifying Optometrists all over the province.

Dr. Taylor enjoys running, and has run numerous marathons including the New York City Marathon.  As well as playing the violin in the Calgary Community Strings Orchestra she enjoys travel photography.

Dr. Taylor is eager for the challenge of opening up this new clinic and being able to offer a full scope of service to people, whether it be diagnosing or monitoring medical conditions, removing foreign bodies out of the eyes, or making people look and feel amazing in new glasses or contact lenses.

Dr. Phillip Crouse

Dr. Phillip Crouse joined the Eye Q team in early 2021 as the newest member of the team. Dr. Crouse was born in South Africa but spent his formative years in Alberta and has come to think of Calgary as his home. He left Calgary to complete his Bachelor of Science at the University of Alberta and then headed south to obtain his Doctor of Optometry in Oregon at Pacific University. While he was a student, Dr. Crouse interned in many different practice environments across the United States, including a Veterans Hospital and a Military base.

Dr. Crouse began his optometry practice in rural Alberta which helped refine his abilities and equipped him with a wealth of experience dealing with ocular emergencies and disease. Dr. Crouse is passionate about eye health and patient education. He enjoys ensuring that each patient understands how their eyes function as well as how to best take care of them. Dr. Crouse is passionate about providing eye exams for all ages, managing dry eye, doing contact lens fits, managing ocular pathology cases all while providing exceptional top quality eye care to all his patients.

Outside of his professional practice, Dr. Crouse loves hockey and golf. In the winter you are likely to find him at the Saddledome cheering on the Flames and in the summer he spends as much time as possible on the golf course. Wherever he is, he loves meeting new people - his favourite part of his job is interacting with people and is welcoming all new patients to his practice.
